I would like to gather information about expat life in the Philippines, especially life in Davao. I just retired and I am considering moving to the Philippines. I have been to Luzon, Cebu and Bohol, but still do not have a good handle on what it would be like to live there.

Can anyone who is well familiar with Samal Island comment on what it is like living on the island as an expat? Are... caution against having a house too close to the eastern shoreline? Are there any significant safety issues?
